The MRI examination is free of pain, nonradioactive and conducted without any contrast agent. For this test, the child lies down for 20-40 minutes with the upper part of the body inside the tunnel. For good results, the child should lie still. To make this more convenient he or she can listen to a CD or an audio book. The mother or caregiver will be right by his/her side.

During the investigation, the machine produces loud noise (comparable to a building site). The child will therefore wear a headset and ear protection.
