SCILD stands for the Swiss CF (Cystic Fibrosis) Infant Lung Development cohort. It is a nationwide study that seeks to characterize early changes in airway function of CF infants in order to improve diagnostic and treatment strategies. This prospective study began in 2011 with the integration of CF into newborn screenings in Switzerland, and is funded in part through the Swiss National Science Foundation. At present, more than 50 children are taking part in the study.
From mid-June onwards we are ready! After careful preparations and the confirmation of the ethical commission, we gladly invite the first children from 6-7 to take part in phase III of the SCILD Study. In a first step, we have already asked the patients of the Cystic Fibrosis Center in Bern to participate. The next step will be to contact the parents of children with CF in the other areas of Switzerland. The first measurements have been taken successfully.

There are 8 hospitals and CF-centers in Switzerland participating in the study.
